Meet MC Olaks: The Uniport Graduate Making Nigeria Laugh
In the vibrant entertainment scene of Port Harcourt, one name continues to echo through event halls, comedy shows, and radio waves: Victor Olarotimi, widely known as MC Olaks. With a microphone in hand and humor in his voice, Olaks has built a reputation as a stand-up comedian, professional master of ceremonies, and radio personality who knows exactly how to transform any room from silent to electric.
Born and raised in Eleme, Rivers State, MC Olaks discovered his love for comedy and hosting at a young age. What started as small performances in a village environment gradually grew into a journey that would shape him into one of the most recognizable campus and event hosts in the region.
His breakthrough moment began in 2019, when he competed in the Eleme Best Comedian competition and secured 2nd position. Instead of slowing down, the near victory fueled his determination. Two years later, in 2021, he returned stronger and claimed the Eleme Best Comedian title, proving his talent and persistence.
Beyond the stage, Olaks also made his mark academically. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Port Harcourt, graduating with a second-class upper (2:1) in mathematics and statistics. During his time at the university, he was not just a student but a leader who served in several key roles within the Faculty of Science.
His leadership journey included serving as:
• Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Faculty of Science (2021–2022)
• Director of Social (DOS) for the Faculty of Science (2022–2023/2024)
• President of the Mathematics & Statistics Department from Year 3 to his final year
These positions showcased his ability to lead and connect with people, qualities that later became essential to his career as a master of ceremonies.
His talent and charisma did not go unnoticed. Over the years, MC Olaks has accumulated several awards recognizing both his comedic brilliance and leadership.

He organizes a major annual comedy show known as “LAFFTA UNSTOPPABLE," an event that has become a highlight for comedy lovers in Port Harcourt. In addition, he hosts a monthly comedy club event called “Friday Night Laughs,” which continues to attract audiences eager for laughter and entertainment.
Today, MC Olaks is known for his spontaneous hosting style, often described as someone who turns frowns into smiles and quiet rooms into vibrant spaces. From village stages in Eleme to commanding large audiences across Port Harcourt, his journey is a powerful reminder that passion, persistence, and personality can turn dreams into reality.
